Welcome all, to the George Town Cruising Community Website! Cruising yachtsmen from around the world gather in George Town, Exumas in the Bahama Islands each winter for months of fun in the sun escaping the winter cold. Each year since 1980, for a week to ten days in February to March, they organize and hold the George Town Cruising Regatta.
The Regatta started out as a series of yacht races but has grown through the years to a week long series of parties, contests, and competitive games. For the past several years, there have been up to 450 boats in the harbor for the event. This website describes the many different events that have been held during the regatta or are planned. It should be noted that in any one year some events may not be included.
The Regatta is run by a Regatta Committee formed by volunteers from the cruising community. Funds to support the regatta are derived primarily from the sale of "T" shirts and hats. The design on the "T" shirts is different each year and is selected from submissions by the cruisers by a vote at registration day.
The Regatta has for many years made a significant contribution to the Bahamas National Family Island Regatta which is held in April of each year.
Please support the community by sharing the link to the site to family and friends, and by posting a link on bulletin boards at various stops while cruising, and in emails to others. This site is a great way to find out about the regatta, keep in touch with others, and for information about George Town in general.

This site is run and managed by the "kid" who brought you "Gaviota Bay wi-fi". I built this entire site from scratch for the regatta, which I enjoy year after year. Please show your appreciation by donating a dollar; I appreciate it!
